Rick the American side is a slum, tacky beats scary and depressing any day of the week. How ever if you do go back fort niagra is kind of neat and there are the trails at the bottom of the gorge which are the middle of nowhere in the midst of the city also kind of neat.western ny'ernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16646992.post-11953244511603708112013-08-20T02:35:28.165-10:002013-08-20T02:35:28.165-10:00Bill,

I wonder if there're any historical museums in the US you can say that about.Billnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16646992.post-16518079817030330702013-08-17T10:51:15.475-10:002013-08-17T10:51:15.475-10:00I've been there a couple of times back in the ...I've been there a couple of times back in the mid-70's. The Horseshoe falls (psst! The one over your shoulder) are IMHO the more beautiful of the two. Both sides of the Peace Bridge are tacky, touristy stuff and have been for about 150 years or so. Be glad you didn't venture into Buffalo (take my advice - don't, it's a dead industrial city and quite *ahem* 'diverse'). I'd say the Canadian side is a bit tackier due to the firework shops seeking US customers due to NY state laws that ban everything except sparklers or 'snappers'. In Ontario you can buy anything short of the professional shells you see in the major displays.
Yes, both sides of Lake Erie are major wine/juice grape areas, the climate and terrain are quite suitable for them - it's just that California gets more attention (as usual).
YIHnoreply@blogger.com
