Manufacturing the news

I had no intention of blogging the smallest squeak about the Trayvon Martin story. I mostly avoid political posts these days because I'm weary of writing variations on subjects I've already examined many times. But today I take time out from my time out, because this -- while it has been posted elsewhere -- must be given the widest possible circulation.

Lawrence Auster outlines the facts:

When NBC News played the audio of the 911 call George Zimmerman made prior to the confrontation that resulted in the death Travyon Martin, this is what they played:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good. He looks black. ...

But the audio played by NBC, though it seemed like "fact" (because it was an audio, and isn't audio true?) was false. Here is the transcript of the actual audio of the 911 call:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good. Or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy--is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Got it? If this is true -- nobody seems to have denied it -- NBC deliberately edited the recording to make it sound as though Zimmerman believed Martin was up to no good solely because of his race.

The Left-controlled news media have still further debased themselves. This outrage goes leagues beyond their typical slanted news, selective reporting, and lack of fact checking:

A major network has falsified evidence to accord with its anti-white agenda. That's right, NBC forged a recording.

Stalinist-type mainstream media are now a fact of American life.

Any further comment is superfluous.

The liberals who are so desperate to point the finger at anyone they can paint as a "racist" must be fleeing from their own crimethink. That's the only way I can explain it: projection.

Auster has updated: ''“There was an error.” We all know that such a gross manipulation of the tape, in which an entire exchange between Zimmerman and the 911 operator, including the operator’s question to Zimmerman as to Martin’s race, was deleted and two unrelated sentences of Zimmerman’s were spliced together, could not have been merely an error, it had to be deliberate. NBC does not find any deliberate manipulation, only an “error,” not does it name the party or parties that made the “error,” nor does it say that they will be disciplined.

Further, NBC apologizes only to its viewers, not to George Zimmerman who was the main person injured by this.''
Basic CYA. I guess NBC learned nothing from that 'Dateline' exploding truck fiasco.
